This year I hope to take my photography to a new level. I was re-inspired back in November to rediscover and reconnect with the process, experience and love of creating photos. Like anything though, improvement takes time and effort and in 2009 I am going to give myself the chance to explore how far I can go. I have a goal that I am working towards for the end of the year, which I will keep to myself for now, and so to get there, I will need to take quite a few steps .
Step 1 was today, a short course on the features and functions of my camera. I have previously done an SLR course, quite a few years ago. This was before digital had really become affordable and was technical and included the process of developing photos as well. So, I really do have had the basics of some of the concepts and they are there, in the back of my head. What I have not ever done is a digital photography course, or really learnt about my digital camera.
London Phototours offered an opportunity to do this. I have just finished the 4 hour concepts course and feel very pleased that I have learnt some new things and refreshed on others and my camera is becoming even more of a friend as I feel I understand it more. Learning new things and having new tricks up the sleeve to try is great fun and although the course was undertaken in -5 degrees at London Bridge and I froze my butt off, I feel it was well worth the effort!!
